Statement from UAW Vice President Norwood Jewell on FCA US Profit-Sharing Announcement
“Today FCA US announced that UAW members will get an average of $5,000 in profit-sharing payments. Based on the new contract formula that UAW members bargained in 2015 negotiations, some employees could be eligible for higher payments based on compensated hours.
UAW members at FCA US are proud of the quality Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and RAM products they produce, and through collectively bargained profit-sharing, the hard work and success of our members’ is rewarded.”

Under Indiana Governor Mike Pence's leadership and the "Right to Work is Wrong" (RTWIW) legislation jammed through the Indiana State Legislature by members of his party, Hoosiers make $.86 for every American dollar, dropping Indiana to 39th in per capita income. And according to a study by the American Association of University Women, Hoosier women make $.73 cents for every dollar men make working comparable jobs, ranking Indiana 46th in the nation and below the national average of 77 cents. (We can take great pride that our Collective Bargaining Agreements require equal pay in Union represented work sites, another reason why RTWIW.)Read more >>>

UAW Region 2-B has a long-standing and proud tradition of awarding scholarships each year to (11) eleven high school seniors from participating Local UAW families in Indiana and Ohio. The affiliated Local Union Presidents voted this year to raise the scholarships to twelve (12) 10,000 scholarships beginning in 2016.
The program was established to honor the memory of former Region 2-B Director and International Vice-President, Richard T. Gosser. Initially, in 1962, a single, $2000 scholarship was awarded. A foundation was established, and through contributions, the award dollar amount and number of recipients grew over the years.
As a means to keep the foundation strong and the scholarships growing even larger, Retired Regional Director, Lloyd Mahaffey, in 2004, established the first annual Richard T. Gosser Golf Outing. Local Unions, units and employers from around the state of Ohio and Indiana field teams. All proceeds go directly to the foundation and (12) twelve, $10,000 Scholarships are awarded each year.
Including the 2015-2016 winners, 320 students have received Gosser scholarships.
Region 2-B UAW Retirees also award (6) six $1000 scholarship awards to the finalists, investing in the future of an additional 107 students. In 2016, the Region 2-B Retirees are raising the (6) six scholarships to $1500.
In all the Gosser awards and the Retiree awards total over $2.2 million in scholarships awarded over the last 54 years.

On the morning of April 17, 2014, workers at Piston Automotive in Toledo went on strike to gain union recognition. A majority of workers support the UAW, but until now management refused to recognize the union. Today, as a result of the courqage and solidarity of these workers, and all the other UAW members who supported them, Piston management agreed to card check recognition of the UAW. Read more >>>
Over the past few months, people from all over the country have been talking about how their lives have been touched by health care reform.
Renee is a mother of three young children who was blindsided by cancer. She was rejected from her husband's health insurance, and several other private plans, because of a pre-existing condition -- leaving her stuck with a plan that had a yearly limit and additional stress that the care she needed might not be covered.

So-called right to work laws are wrong for working and middle class families. These laws make paying union dues optional - even though unions are required by law to represent all workers under their agreements. In other words, the laws give people the right to shirk - since all the benefits of a union contract still cover everyone, regardless if they pay dues or not. As a result, unions will have trouble representing members and negotiating contracts because bargaining power will be lost.
The effort to pass a right to shirk law is currently under way in Ohio. Recently these laws were passed in Indiana and Michigan. In Ohio, the same people who wanted to take away our collective bargaing rights with Senate Bill 5 are behind the right to shirk. It's crucial that we educate ourselves and our co-workers, families, neighbors and friends about the truth behind this deceitful effort. Lower Tax Withholding Rates Take Effect September 1, 2013
Effective with the first pay period ending on or after September 1, 2013, state income tax withholdings should be deducted at the new rates.
