Signing of HB 1168, Indiana EV Commission, Stellantis Kokomo Product

On October 7, 2021 Stellantis announced that it would invest a total of $229 million in three of its Kokomo, Indiana, plants to help the company reach its goal of achieving 40% low-emission vehicle sales in the U.S. by 2030. This announcement, which will retain 662 jobs, comes three months after the company laid out its long-term electrification strategy, where it committed to investing $35 billion through 2025 in electrification and software.

Wayne Blanchard, director of UAW Region 2B, said in the end, it’s the local workforce that gave Stellantis the confidence to make the $229 million investment in Kokomo, and he thanked the company for trusting its workers.

“At the end of the day, it’s the UAW members who are touching that steel, pressing those buttons and putting those components in the transmissions and engines that’s making this possible,” he said. “All I want to say is: Keep up the good work.”

Congratulations to UAW members from Local 685, 1166 and 1302 on this $229 million investment!
