RICHARD T. GOSSER SCHOLARSHIPS
AWARDED TO TWELVE STUDENTS

Twelve outstanding high school seniors from Region 2B UAW families have been awarded a $10,000.00 college scholarship by the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Awards Program.  The scholarships will be presented Wednesday, May 8, 2019 by Ken Lortz, President of the Scholarship Awards Program at a luncheon to be held at the Region 2B, UAW Regional Building located at 1691 Woodlands Drive, Maumee, Ohio (Arrowhead Park) at Noon.

The Gosser Scholarship Awards Program, named in honor of the late UAW Vice President and Regional Director, Richard T. Gosser was established in 1962.

This year, seven (7) Scholarships will be awarded in the name of Richard T. Gosser and one (1) Scholarship each will be awarded in the name of Ruthann Gosser-Harrison, Joseph Tomasi, Jack Sizemore, Lloyd Mahaffey and Ken Lortz.

Including the 2018-2019 winners, 356 students have received Gosser scholarships.  An additional 131 students have received runner-up scholarships.  In all, $2,731,000 in scholarships have been awarded since the program began in 1962. 

The 2018-2019 Scholarship Winners are: 

Nicholas William Leibacher, a senior at Margaretta High School, Castalia, OH, who ranked 4 out of a class of 79 students.  His Father, Christopher Leibacher, is a member of UAW Local 1250 and works at Ford, Brook Park, OH. 

Emily Rita Austin, a senior at Fort Loramie High School, Fort Loramie, OH, who ranked 1 out of a class of 58 students.  Her Father, James Arthur Austin, is a member of UAW Local 2391 and works at Auria, Sidney, OH. 

Olivia Brooke Parson, a senior at Marion L. Steele High School, Amherst, OH, who ranked 8 out of a class of 328 students.  Her Father, David Wayne Parson, is a member of UAW Local 2000 and works at Ford, Avon Lake, OH. 

Benjamin Jefferson Pemberton IV, a senior at Taylor High School, Kokomo, IN, who ranked 1 out of a class of 85 students.  His Father, Benjamin Jefferson Pemberton III, is a member of UAW Local 1166 and works at Chrysler Kokomo Casting, Kokomo, IN. 

Savannah Lee Jordan, a senior at Conner High School, Hebron, KY, who ranked 15 out of a class of 347 students.  Her Father, Greg Stuart Jordan, is a member of UAW Local 647 and works at GE Erlanger, Erlanger, KY. 

Hannah Marie Prezenkowski, a senior at North Royalton High School, North Royalton, OH, who ranked 16 out of a class of 370 students.  Her Father, Ronald Joseph Prezenkowski, Jr., is a member of UAW Local 1005 and works at GM, Parma, OH. 

Hannah Michelle Nawrocki, a senior at Boardman High School, Youngstown, OH, who ranked 1 out of a class of 329 students.  Her Father, Thomas Michael Nawrocki, is a member of UAW Local 1112 and works at GM, Warren, OH. 

Feliciana Alish Garza, a senior at Waite High School, Toledo, OH, who ranked 4 out of a class of 165 students.  Her Mother, Jonnell Garza, is a member of UAW Local 12 and works at Chrysler, Toledo, OH. 

Riley Bryce Meyer, a senior at George S. Parker High School, Janesville, WI, who ranked 1 out of a class of 314 students.  Her Father, Bryce Meyer, is a member of UAW Local 14 and works at GM Powertrain, Toledo, OH. 

 

Morgan Lynn Schumacker, a senior at Whitmer High School, Toledo, OH, who ranked 14 out of a class of 494 students.  Her Father, Michael John Schumacker, is a member of UAW Local 12 and works at Mobis, Toledo, OH. 

Caitlyn Victoria Milsap, a senior at North Royalton High School, North Royalton, OH, and the school does not rank.  Her Father, Jonathan Eugene Milsap, is a member of UAW Local 1005 and works at GM, Parma, OH. 

Alyssa Joan Walczak, a senior at Whitmer High School, Toledo, OH, who ranked 8 out of a class of 494 students.  Her Mother, Rebecca Anne Walczak, is a member of UAW Local 3056 and works at LCSO Toledo, OH. 

 The selections were made by a five-member Board of Judges composed of:
