Retirees

Members of UAW Local 1714 began retiring in 1973. Before long, it became evident that retired members would need to meet regularly to remain updated on their benefits and to stay in touch with each other.

Dave Burns (then Pension Representative) and John Barbara (then SUB Chairman and President of UAW Local 1714) were instrumental in the creation of the Chapter.

July 18, 1977, UAW Local 1714 Retired Workers’ Chapter received their charter.

Four years later the International Union made the appointments for Chapter officers and elections were held May 15, 1981.
