Tell your council members: Vote NO! to firing our nurses.

Dear UAW Sisters and Brothers,
On Tuesday April 9, 2019, Cuyahoga County Council located in Cleveland, OH, will be voting on Resolution #R2019-0092 that would authorize an agreement in which Cuyahoga County would turn over the jail medical department functions to Metro Health. If the council votes in favor of this agreement, it will essentially be firing fifteen (15) UAW Local 70 / Cuyahoga County Registered Nurses. The nurses have been subjected to short staffing, a constant rotation of temporary nurses and unsafe housing of detainees.
We are asking the UAW membership to use the attached list to call and email each Cuyahoga County Council member starting on Monday April 8th and through the end of business on Tuesday April 9th with the following message:
The UAW stands in Solidarity with the Cuyahoga County Registered Nurses.
Vote NO on resolution # R2019-0092 (Metro Health takeover) and require Metro Health to retain the current county registered nurses and recognize the UAW as their bargaining union.
Union protections allow the nurses to speak up for themselves and those who they treat.
“You will prove with your vote today if you are with or against the UAW and the working-class men and women who have committed to the service of Cuyahoga County.”
If the county phones are unavailable, please call the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Headquarters at 216-621-9750.
