Purpose of the Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for building the power of the movement through educating and training members of their local union. Members of this committee identify the training needs of their local union membership and, with their leadership’s approval, provide classes, materials, and information based on those needs. If you are committed to providing education that informs, develops skills and motivates our leadership and members, this is the committee for you!

Why is union education important?

Every UAW member has a right to access educational tools that allow full participation in their union.

Union power flows from an educated, well-informed membership.  As members grow in their union education, they recommit themselves to the mission of the labor movement and invigorate their local unions.  Active engagement and solidarity in our membership translates into better contracts, stronger communities, and improved quality of life for working families.
